Description
General information
Pyrite is pale yellow iridescent to reddish due to oxidation. The stone is opaque with a metallic sheen. Pyrite is also called fool’s gold or apachen gold due to its golden colour.
Working
Pyrite is a strong insight-giving stone and thus promotes self-knowledge, brings up repressed memories, promotes insight into the cause of harmful situations or of illness and symptoms. Pyrite stimulates the functioning of the liver, helps with circulatory disorders (e.g. varicose veins) and promotes the formation of red blood cells. Pyrite suns have a strong analgesic and antispasmodic effect (e.g. for menstrual complaints).
Care for
Pyrite should not be cleaned with water as it contains iron and may rust.

Etymology
Pyrite comes from the Greek word pyr meaning fire. Hitting the stone or breaking the stone creates sparks with which fire can be made.
